Josh Hegard
Growing up in rural Wisconsin, Josh Hegard split his time between exploring the woods with an overactive imagination and dreaming about the film industry in front of the TV. In high school, he gravitated toward editing, often turning video projects into opportunities for extra credit. That instinct led him to film school in San Francisco, where a sound design professor encouraged him to drop out and move to Los Angeles. Over the past 17 years, Josh has edited across every format, from commercials and branded content to documentary, music videos, and scripted work.
Moving between formats continually pushes him to rethink storytelling, solve problems in new ways, and evolve as an editor. Josh has developed an editing style that is energetic, textured, and unexpected. His creative process almost always begins with sound design, using audio as the foundation for discovering rhythm, emotion, and story.
He now lives in the Oregon countryside, where he balances his editing career with running a small vegetable farm called Rough Cut, alongside his two dogs, a flock of hens, and an excessive amount of roosters.
