About

Arts Academy is an editorial collective devoted to making work that inspires and leads culture forward. We are a sanctuary for the creative process.

In 2021, we were in the middle of the pandemic. And like so many of our friends, we found ourselves doing some serious soul searching. What we realized in the middle of this confusing time was that we needed to reconnect to the things that are meaningful to us, especially in regards to our work.

We had many long discussions and revisited everything that made us want to jump into this work in the first place. We dove back into all of our passions – creativity, filmmaking, storytelling – the work that inspired us and kept us motivated. We were energized, and soon a vision emerged that incorporated all of these things that are truly important to us: a new company devoted to creating excellent work and devoted to the people who make it. Instead of wanting to retreat from this mad world, we felt excited to dive back in, to create something new, and to protect the creative process that we hold as sacred. We had found our respite from the chaos.

The best work, the work we love and love to do, is the work that requires us to learn, to be open, and to take big risks. When we say that we created Arts Academy as a sanctuary for the creative process, we mean that it’s a haven workshop devoted to making the work as strong as possible. It’s a place where we champion the spirit of creative freedom and give it full support.

We’ve seen what happens when we keep the work personal. We’ve seen how powerful stories, when told in ways that the audience can’t ignore, profoundly influence culture. We’ve seen how creative excellence and a culture of kindness go hand in hand. When we foster each other, we foster the work. We know we’re part of a large creative community of like-minded teams, companies, and brands that care about pushing the work forward, and we love being a part of it.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion is essential to our culture. Arts Academy is committed to anti-racism and anti-oppression. We stand in solidarity with Black, Indigenous, people of color, and all oppressed peoples. We support liberation movements here in our country and across the world, and understand that statements of solidarity are best accompanied by action.

We know our best work is ahead of us. These may be trying times, but they’re also awakening times. We’re ready to help pave the way to a brighter future.
